The first major piece, the famous Mido watch made for the great Ettore Bugatti, fetched €280,000, well over twice its high estimate and setting a world record for this model. The fact that it belonged to the founder of Bugatti had much to do with the result. Made about 1929 by Georges Schaeren, Mido’s founder, the timepiece features the legendary yellow-gold radiator grill and a two-toned white and yellow-gold wristband.
