The United States and China initiated talks about arranging a meeting between their leaders, Donald Trump and Xi Jinping, in June 2025, according to The Wall Street Journal, which cites sources.

They claim that the discussions are still in the initial phase. Both leaders, via their representatives, have indicated to one another that they are keen on holding such a summit.

The newspaper highlights that discussions regarding a meeting in June, when both Trump and Xi Jinping have birthdays, indicate a desire from both parties to enhance relations.

Additionally, sources from the WSJ say that Beijing favors conducting the talks in China instead of the United States.
