The government claims that compared to 2021–2022, bilateral trade between India and the US grew by 7.65% to $128.55 billion in 2022–2023 from $119.5 billion. Imports from the US rose by almost 16% to $50.24 billion, and exports climbed by 2.81% to $78.31 billion in 2022-2023 from $76.18 billion in 2021-2022.
India and China's bilateral trade fell from $115.42 billion in 2021–2022 to $113.83 billion in 2022–202, a fall of around 1.5%. In 2022–2023, exports to China decreased by around 28% to $15.32 billion, while imports increased by 4.16% to $98.51 billion during the same year. In the most recent fiscal year, the trade imbalance grew to $83.2 billion from $72.91 billion in 2021–2022.
China was India's top trading partner from 2013–2014 through 2017–2018 and again in 2020–21, according to the ministry. The UAE was India's biggest trading partner prior to China.
