Every day, cargo valued between $100 million to $200 million passed through the port, said Buttigieg when asked how much money was lost. Employees' daily earnings of about two million dollars were also at stake.

A Singaporean Dali container ship collided with a highway bridge in Baltimore, Maryland, the day before. Six individuals died as a result, and the authorities ruled out the possibility that this was a terrorist act.

The situation was deemed "an incident with a large number of victims," according to Baltimore municipal authorities, as CBS news stated. Subsequently, CBS reported that a significant diesel fuel spill was discovered near the ship as it made a cut into a highway bridge.
