Two New Models S of Tesla At An Affordable Range

The company of Tesla is bringing out two cheaper ranges of its latest Model S.



The U.S. market will be witnessing two less costly version of Tesla Motors Inc’s “electric Model S sedan”, whereby the starting price is “$66,000” for these two ranges. The latest Model S of Tesla’s starting price range is at “$76,000”, which mostly gets delivered at around “$100,000”. However, the above mentioned prices have mentioned before any “tax incentives” have been added to them.
 
Moreover, in the new versions, including Model S 60 with its “rear-wheel drive” along with the Model S 60D that comes with “all-wheel drive”, will appear in a cheaper price than the already sold model of Model S. For the U.S. market, the starting price of “Model S 60D” has been determined at “$71,000”.
 
In a statement, Tesla informed that the upcoming models will feature “a range of more than 200 miles”. While, Reuters reported:
“The Model S 60 and Model S 60D will be sold with a battery pack with a capacity of 75 kilowatt-hours, but will be limited to a capacity of 60 kWh. Tesla said owners will have the option to get a software upgrade to allow the car to have a capacity of 75 kWh and the longer range it provides”.
 
As per the RBC Capital’s analyst, Joseph Spak, the option of upgrading will “cost $8,500 at purchase or $9,000 after purchase”. The website of Tesla shows that the “rear-wheel drive Model S 60” has an estimated battery range of “218 miles” with its 60 kWh batteries, while the “Model S 60D” will have “210 miles” for the same.
 
If anyone wants to upgrade the battery to “the 75 kWh battery pack”, one will have an additional range amount of “40 miles”. The “60 kWh Model S version” of Tesla which came out in the year of 2012 at “$70,000” are not found any more from sometimes last year, as it has “discontinued” from then. However, Tesla assures that the upcoming models are far more capable. As per Reuters:
“Tesla has said it will produce between 80,000 and 90,000 electric cars in 2016 and that it can make 500,000 by 2018. Most of those are expected to be Model S cars. In the first quarter, Tesla produced 14,820 vehicles, of which 12,851 were Model S and 2,659 were Model X sports utility vehicle”.
 
There are plans of launching the “Model 3” of Tesla towards the end of 2017, which will be “a more affordable sedan” with a starting price range of “$35,000”.
