Trump to reveal the infrastructure plan in 2017

Trump’s administration will present an infrastructure plan worth $ 1 trillion this year, said Transport Minister Elaine Chao. However, she did not provide details of project financing, Reuters reports.

According to her, the infrastructure initiative will include a strategic target investment program worth $ 1 trillion over 10 years. The proposal will cover not only the transport infrastructure, but also energy, water resources and veteran hospitals.

Chao's statements were more informative than the information provided previously by Trump’s administration on the roadmap for upgrading roads, bridges, airports, electric grids and US water systems. The minister said that the White House will offer incentives for public-private partnership, and not just finance modernization.

Investors are increasingly skeptical about the idea that the infrastructure plan will be approved this year. The Dow Jones Transportation Average rose after the elections and closed at a record high on March 1, but now it is 4.3% lower.

Trump's budget also implies curtailment of the TIGER grant programme of Obama’s administration, which will save $ 499 million. This program was used to finance various transport projects, including high-speed and intraurban rail, highway and transit bus systems.

In early March it became known that administration of President of the United States Donald Trump is going to accelerate the process of developing an infrastructure spending plan of $ 1 trillion. They need this to force state authorities to simplify issuance of permits to local residents to help reconstruct existing roads and highways.

In addition, the White House intends to prioritize projects, through which it will be possible to quickly begin the construction process.
