They state that the European Commission is considering implementing restrictions as part of a "strategy document" regarding a "clean industrial agreement" that will be unveiled next month. The document aims to outline strategies for assisting the heavy industry within the EU.

According to two senior EU officials speaking to the newspaper, the union is contemplating actions against traders who are increasing gas prices during the summer while European nations build up fuel supplies for the upcoming winter. An official from the EU informed the newspaper that certain nations within the bloc might be hesitant to impose price regulations. Germany and the Netherlands were among the nations that resisted such measures previously.

The agency stated that discussions regarding price cap mechanisms are still in the initial phase and have faced criticism from industry associations.
