In 2013, volume of foreign direct investment in the sector amounted to $ 8 billion, and jumped to $ 25 billion in 2014. Industrial production has been the main sector for foreign direct investment. Analysts noted an increase from $ 74 billion to $ 125 billion during the same period.
Last year, foreign companies have invested $ 353 billion in the US. This is a record high, twice more than in 2014. Nevertheless, analysts are recognizing growth of competition, which leads to decrease in the US share of total foreign investment in the world. It has declined from 37% in 2000 to 22% in 2015.
