"Human-induced warming is accelerating at an unprecedented rate of more than 0.2 degrees Celsius every decade between 2013 and 2022. A combination of greenhouse gas emissions, which over the past ten years have hit a record high of 54 billion tonnes of CO2, are to blame for the rapid rate of warming," according to the paper's authors.
The analysis found that from 2013 and 2022, the average global surface temperature was 1.14 degrees higher than pre-industrial levels (the 19th century), increasing to 1.26 degrees last year.
The study was held by more than 40 environmental scientists from different countries.
