Sinopec signs contract to buy LNG from US

China's Sinopec has signed a twenty-year contract with US-based Venture Global LNG, under which Venture Global will be supplying 4 million tonnes of liquefied natural gas annually for 20 years, Sinopec announced in a press release.

"China's Sinopec Petrochemical Corporation has signed a 20-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) contract with US-based LNG producer and exporter Venture Global to supply 4M tonnes of the fuel annually," the release said.

According to the release, Venture Global will supply LNG from its plant in Plaquemines, Louisiana. In addition, China International United Petroleum & Chemicals (UNIPEC), a Sinopec related company, will purchase 3.8M tonnes of the fuel from Venture Global's project called Calcasieu Pass .

China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) is one of China's largest petrochemical companies. Sinopec Corp.'s business includes oil and gas exploration, refining, petrochemicals, fertilizer production, and oil and gas transportation.
