The British engineering firm Rolls-Royce Holdings Plc may fire thousands of workers, according to a source in the consulting industry, The Times said. 10% of the company's 30,000 employees may lose their employment as a result of the merger of its three non-manufacturing divisions, civil aviation, defense, and energy systems.
The employees from Derby, where the business is headquartered, will probably be hardest hurt by the cuts.
According to Rolls-Royce, no decisions have yet been made. The corporate spokesman said: "We have not made any decisions that could potentially affect personnel; any supposition to the contrary is simply speculation."
