This information is contained in a report from the US-based human rights group Syrian Justice and Accountability Center (SJAC), obtained by Reuters.

SJAC staff have found seven purported burial locations of individuals who perished due to extrajudicial killings during the period when former President Bashar al-Assad ruled the nation.

As stated in the report, Bashar al-Assad's government utilized the Mezzeh military airfield to detain prisoners. The report asserts that it detained at least 29,000 individuals between 2011 and 2017.

The report references information gathered from examining documents, testimonies, and satellite images. The authors of the report claim they examined Air Force intelligence data which documented a total of 1,154 detainees who passed away from 2011 to 2017. Furthermore, the research team spoke with 156 survivors and eight ex-members of Syria's security service, which was responsible for tracking and intimidating regime opponents. SJAC reports that every survivor involved in the study experienced torture throughout their time in detention
