A re-affirmation has come from the President Emmanuel Macron of France to maintain his support towards Michel Barnier, the Chief Negotiator of E.U, whereby keeping the “only point of contact for Brexit negotiations”, as a result he dismissed the British press talks of Paris being “at odds” with Barnier.
The President clarified:
“I want to be very clear and reiterate our will, which is that there is only one negotiator and only one mandate”.
“Only one negotiator, it’s Michel Barnier, and I want here to clear any ambiguity created by false information that was spread”.
Daily Telegraph of Britain had reported in the earlier part of this week that E.U. nations including France were ready to commence “Brexit trade talks” by October, although they in conflict with Barnier. Reuters added that:
“The report was immediately denied by the president’s office, which called it ‘groundless’, while a source close to Macron told Reuters there was ‘nothing true in this’”.
While, the Dutch Prime Minister, Mark Rutte, also present in the conference expressed his concerns about the “pace of Brexit negotiations”.
