The communication regulatory body of Russia is investigating into the “U.S. consumer goods group Procter & Gamble and Burger King”, for finding out f they are in compliance with the “local data laws”, revealed a spokesperson of the above mentioned regulatory body on Monday, January 28, 2019.
Over the period of last five years, Russia began to implement “tougher internet laws”, whereby companies need to follow the requirement of storing personal data of Russian users in servers those are located on the Russian soil itself. Moreover, they also need to “delete some search results” from search engines, while messaging services have to reveal “encryption keys with security services”.
The Interfax News Agency quoted Yuri Kontemirov, the acting “deputy head” of the regulatory body, informing that the above mentioned scrutiny is likely to end by the “second half of February”.
