On Sunday, the US National Hurricane Watch Center (NHC) warned that Tropical Storm Marco had become a Category 1 hurricane; along with it, the tropical storm Laura is moving to the Gulf of Mexico and the US coast. The NHC said Monday that Hurricane Marco has weakened to a tropical storm again.

A tropical storm is named when the accompanying wind reaches 62 kilometers per hour. A storm becomes a hurricane when the wind speed exceeds 119 kilometers per hour.
