“They lack sufficient funds,” Musk commented on X in reply to OpenAI's message. A few hours afterward, Musk shared another post stating, “SoftBank possesses significantly under $10 billion; I have reliable information on this.”

Karoline Leavitt, Trump's press secretary, spoke to Fox News in response to Musk's remarks. She said that “the citizens of America ought to have faith in President Trump and the CEOs of the companies. These investments are on their way to our wonderful country, bringing jobs for Americans along with them.” The firms did not reply to a request for feedback.

The billionaire's remarks “offer perspective on the occasionally tense dynamic (of the relationship) between the new president and Musk,” a noted Trump campaign donor, according to the WSJ. Furthermore, the newspaper reported that it was evident Musk would continue to express "his unfiltered online remarks" even after Trump assumed office.
