Microsoft tells about operating system of the future

Microsoft Vice President Nick Parker told about his view on a modern operating system (OS) at Computex 2019 in Taipei. In his opinion, it should be continuously updated, use cloud technologies, work in 5G networks and support artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. The media found this description similar to the intended OS Windows Lite, which Microsoft has not yet presented.

Microsoft’s Corporate Vice President of Sales of Consumer Products and Devices Nick Parker spoke at the annual exhibition Computex 2019. He told how, in his opinion, a modern OS should look like.

One of the most important tasks of the OS should be “continuous updates”, which are carried out invisibly to the user in the background. Microsoft has repeatedly been criticized for unstable updates of Windows 10, which can result in errors. In March, the company said that if Windows 10 does not work properly, it can automatically remove incorrectly running updates. The new OS should fix these problems.

Also, the new system should fully use cloud technology. This will help to separate computing “from applications”, which will improve the interaction between the user and the operating system through the computing power of the cloud. Azure's cloud service is one of the fastest growing at Microsoft. Last month, largely due to its growth, the corporation managed to achieve a market value of $ 1 trillion and enter into a partnership agreement with its rival in the gaming market Sony.

The new OS should work in 5G networks, support AI technologies and various data entry methods, including touch, voice and pen. The system should also be easy to configure for any devices. With Wi-Fi, LTE or 5G, the system will always be online, and all user devices will be synchronized with each other. Its most important feature should be security.

In his speech, Nick Parker never mentioned name of the OS and avoided mentioning Windows. At the same time, foreign media found the described system similar to the rumored Windows Lite - a lightweight Windows 10 system, similar to Chrome OS. According to the media, it is intended for low-cost computers and laptops, as well as for devices with two screens.

In general, Windows Lite, according to the media, is designed to perform simple tasks and work online; it has a new C-Shell and Windows Core for better optimization for different types of devices. Microsoft also planned to abandon the word Windows in the title in order to present Lite as a new platform. Microsoft planned to introduce the new operating system at the Build 2019 conference in May, but it took the developers more time to integrate the Microsoft Edge browser.
