In a statement, Indian tech giant Wipro Ltd said, it has apppointed Thierry Delaporte as its new chief executive officer and managing director of the company.
Delaporte will be replacing Abidali Neemuchwala, who will be stepping down due to family commitments.
Prior to this appointment, Delaporte was the chief operating officer of French consulting and technology firm Capgemini Group.
Neemuchwala will be stepping as Wipro’s CEO on June 1. Until Delaporte’s joining the company, which will be on July 6, executive chairman Rishad Premji will oversee the day-to-day operations of the company, said Wipro.
In April 2015, Neemuchwala had joined Wipro as its president and chief operating officer, having served at larger rival Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.
