ISIS Behind Paris Carnage: French President

11/14/2015

France officially blamed the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) for the carnage in Paris o Friday night.

This was announced by the French President Francois Hollande on Saturday announced this to his shell-shocked nation and termed the attack as an "act of war" committed by Isis.

"It's an act of war that was prepared, organized, planned from the outside and with accomplices on the inside," Hollande said in a live television address. While putting France's security agencies at their highest level of alert, Hollande declared three days of mourning.

The well-coordinated series of terror attacks on Paris that left more than 120 people dead on Friday evening have already been applauded and praised by ISIS supporters on the web.

Later in the day, Isis claimed responsibility for the attacks even there was conjecture whether Al Qaeda had conducted the horrific killings. There were intelligence reports earlier that Isis had been working on a especially after the beginning of the joint operations by the western nations in Syria against the Islamic state.

Responsibility and credit for the apparent bombing of a Russian jetliner that crashed in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula at the end of October has also been claimed by Isis.

While the combat police in Paris managed to kill eight terrorists - seven of them by suicide bombs and one by police, the security forces were still trying to deliberating whether there were more terrorists and whether some of them had managed to flee after the six separate attacks.

France leads the action against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS)  and at Al Qaeda affiliates in Syria and according to analysts this is the reason for the anger of the terrorist organization against France. The attacks on satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo this year  and the attacks on Jewish and other sites in France in the past have been orchestrated by the Isis and AQAP.

A bearded French-speaking militant warning French citizens that, "as long as you keep bombing you will not live in peace, you will even fear traveling to the market" was released earlier on Saturday by Al-Hayat. However it was not clear, however, when the video was made.

Former deputy CIA director Mike Morell said on Friday that the attack was clearly well-coordinated.
"We're talking about a large group of them. We're talking about multiple simultaneous attacks, and they kept it secret; that is a very difficult thing to do. It requires operational sophistication. We haven't seen that level of sophistication since the London bombings" of 2005," Morell said.

The attack on Paris, if indeed confirmed to have been done by Isis, points out to the effort of the Islamic fundamental group to project its influence well beyond the borders of the territory it holds in Iraq and Syria, analysts say.

Taking into account the Russian plane, deadly bombings in Ankara, Turkey, and the Lebanese capital of Beirut, it is believed that in recent weeks, ISIS has inflicted more casualties in attacks carried out abroad when compared to those carried out in Syria and Iraq combined.

As Russia backs Syrian President Bashar Assad's forces in that country and the U.S. military throws its weight behind Kurdish troops battling to reclaim ground from the terror group in northern Iraq, Isis has faced an increasing challenge on its own territory.
