The foreign minister of Hungary, Peter Szijjarto stated that the package of “suspended aid” needs to be disbursed by the European Union to Moldova, while he added that the criticism of the “east European country” by the EU was “not warranted”.
In an announcement, last month, the EU informed that it froze around a hundred million euro worth of “aid package” for Moldova followed by a “disputed mayoral election race” that took place in the “capital Chisinau”, while stated that the “democratic credentials” of the country has been undermined.
While talking in a meeting attended by “Hungarian ambassadors”, which was after Szijjarto had a discussion with his “Moldovan counterpart in Budapest”, Szijjarto said:
“Hungary believes the 100 million euros promised to Moldova must be disbursed ... and there should not be double standards applied”.
