Foreign direct investment in China falls by 27.9% in January-April

The continental China's Ministry of Commerce reports that the country's FDI, or foreign direct investment, shrank by 27.9% year over year to 360.2 billion yuan ($49.7 billion) from January to April.

This includes the lowest FDI since November, which was 58.5 billion yuan last month. The number decreased by 32% month over month and 36% year over year.

Between January and April, the PRC's high-tech industry received around 12.7% of all investments.

FDI dropped by 8% in 2023 to 1.13 trillion yuan.
