"Within the next 24 hours, Dubai International Airport (DXB) will reopen for regular business. This denotes a return to its regular schedule and maximum capacity. Airlines are making up for weather-related delays on aircraft that have already begun to operate out of Terminals 1 and 3," he said.

He promised to contact stranded travelers at the airport, provide them with refreshments, and let them know about flight rescheduling and rebooking options.

Due to floods brought on by persistent rains on April 16, Dubai Airport temporarily suspended operations for 25 minutes before gradually resuming airplane departures. The fact that the entrances to the airport were either closed or flooded made matters more difficult.

Dubai was severely affected by the weather, when nightfall the average annual precipitation in the UAE exceeded 120 mm. The runway at Dubai Airport and the major roadways were flooded as a result of the intense rain.
