Dr. Amit Goffer has been occupying the post of president cum chief Technology Officer of ReWalk Robotics Ltd. besides being its founder too. The company has made an announcement that Dr. Goffer will be retiring on the 18th of November 2015. Moreover, he will also not process any re-election plea before the Board of Directors once “his term expires at the Company's annual meeting of shareholders later this year”.
In the year of 2001 Mr. Goffer founded the company of ReWalk Robotics which was as a result of an accident which changed his life forever. He was in an all-terrain vehicle when the accident occured and turned him a quadriplegic for his life-long. He was an “accomplished inventor and entrepreneur” who had founded “Odin Medical Technologies”, although later on it was sold to Medtronic.
Dr. Goffer was a pioneering soul who led the way to the “invention and development of the ReWalk Robotics wearable exoskeleton”. The ingenious device rendered life into paralytic lower limbs enabling the lower member paralysis patients “to walk again”. However, sadly enough Dr. Goffer’s injury is more serious than one can understand from his zeal of life, consequently, the exoskeleton device was no good to make him walk again. Nevertheless, his failure has only fuel to his determination “to develop a wearable exoskeleton so that others could walk”.
“ReWalk Rehabilitation and Personal systems” developed by Dr. Goffer are the result of that tenacity which allows more than 1,000 people to use ReWalkers all around the world at present. For his fruitful contribution in this line of medical apparatus, he is considered the “pioneer and expert in the emerging exoskeleton industry”. As the C.E.O of ReWalk, Mr. Goffer served from the year of 2001 till the end of 2012 whereby he became the President cum the chief Technology Officer of the company. Besides, he also was a member of the Board of Directors from the start. The present, C.E.O Larry Jasinski talks about Dr. Goffer:
"Amit's vision and innovation in pioneering the ReWalk technology allowed the dream of walking again to become reality for individuals around the world with spinal cord injuries. We have learned from our ReWalkers that Dr. Goffer's pioneering work fundamentally changed their health and life experience. We appreciate Amit's many years of dedicated service and the solid foundation his vision and leadership has built for our employees, ReWalkers and shareholders".
Furthermore, the chairman ReWalkers’ Board of Directord, Jeff Dykan added:
"It has been my honor to partner with Dr. Goffer since the early days of ReWalk Robotics in building the leading exoskeleton company in the world. His contribution to advancing science and technology has forever changed the world and the possibilities available to individuals with lower limb paralysiss. Many ReWalkers view Amit as their hero, and he will continue to be the hero of both current and future ReWalkers. I look forward to working with the board and management to build on the foundation established by Amit and to continue to bring this life-changing technology to more individuals around the world".
"ReWalk has been my life's work and passion from well before I founded the company. The technology and its impact on the daily lives of individuals with spinal cord injuries have exceeded my expectations. This is just the beginning of the journey for individuals with lower limb paralysis and those with higher order injuries. I look forward with hope to ReWalk's continued commercialization to enable many more people around the world to benefit from rewalking," said Dr. Goffer.
