Death toll from floods in Central Europe rises to six

During a press conference, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that floods in Poland resulted in one fatality. Tusk reported that the Kłodz district has recorded its first confirmed case of drowning. He mentioned that the most dramatic situation is in the Londek and Stronje Slenske districts close to the Czech border.

Casualties have also been reported in Austria. The Austrian Press Agency (APA) has reported that the area near Vienna, bordering the Czech Republic and Slovakia, was recently designated as a disaster area.

Therefore, the death toll from floods in Central Europe has increased to six. Reuters reported that in Romania on September 14, four individuals lost their lives due to flooding, with around 5,000 residences sustaining damage and another 25,000 left without power. The flooding impacted eight counties in Romania as reported by the country's emergency management office.

Not only Poland, Austria, and Romania were impacted by the floods, but also the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, and other nations were affected. As reported by Radio Prague International, the northern and northeastern regions of the Czech Republic were the most affected by the flooding, leading to a state of emergency being announced on September 14th. Citizens in certain municipalities near the Czech-Polish border were forced to leave their homes. As per the radio station, four individuals were declared as missing.
