According to the data, China's primary aluminum output increased to 6.74 million tons in January and February from 6.3 million tons during the same time last year. The world's biggest producer of the metal is China.
China produced more metal overall in January and February of this year than it had since at least 2015.
The easing of China's quarantine regulations in the latter part of last year, along with policies to support the economy and the building industry, support higher local aluminum demand. The metal is used in manufacturing of packaging materials, transportation and building industries.
