The Ministry of Commerce of the PRC lodged a complaint with the WTO, stating that the EC's conclusions are unfounded both factually and legally.
According to a spokesperson from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, the decision flagrantly breaches WTO regulations and weakens international collaboration in the fight against climate change.
The duties can last for up to four months. In this timeframe, a conclusive choice needs to be reached through a vote from EU member states. If that occurs, the duties will be enforced for a period of five years.
