"The EU's position concerning the JCPOA has not changed," El Anouni stated during a briefing in Brussels on Wednesday, when questioned about the EU potentially losing its role as JCPOA coordinator amid the heightened actions by the US, Russia, and China related to Iran's nuclear program.

“Given the concerning growth of Iran's nuclear initiative, a reliable diplomatic resolution is now more essential than ever.” El Anouni remarked that the objective of stopping Iran from creating nuclear weapons is a common aim of the global community and receives robust backing from the European Union.

According to reports, US President Donald Trump stated that he communicated with the leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Khamenei, regarding the Iranian nuclear program, putting forth a proposal for negotiations.
