Both The Korean Countries Will Come Together In Olympic Talks

01/15/2018

Fears have eased, while the news of both the Korean countries collaborating for the winter Olympics could result in a common women’s ice-hockey team.

With the easing of several months’ long tensions caused by the “North’s weapons programmes”, the “unification ministry” of Seoul, informed that the South and North Korea will be holding “working talks on Wednesday” for on sending North athletes to Winter Olympics that will take place next month in the South.

According to Reuters:
“The North asked for the meeting to be held at Peace House on the South Korean side of the truce village of Panmunjom in the demilitarised zone that divides the two Koreas, the ministry said in a statement”.

Following the end of the Korean war that lasted from 1950 to 1953 which did not culminate in a treaty, the officials of both the countries are “technically still at war”. However, officials from either countries came together on Monday for holding discussions on “North Korea sending a performance art group to the Olympics to be held in the South Korean town of Pyeongchang”.

Defying the “U.N. Security Council and other sanctions”, North Korea still pursues its “missile and nuclear programmes”. Moreover, it also threatens the U.S. regularly on destroying it along with “two key Asian allies, South Korea and Japan”. Throwing a glance at recent exchanges between the U.S. president and the leader of North Korea, one observes the aggressiveness to be quite tangible as the former was quoted calling the latter a “maniac” as a “little rocket man”, while the latter retorted in replying calling the President of the U.S. to be a “mentally deranged U.S. dotard”.

However, Trump has welcomed the “first round of intra-Korean talks” that took place last week within a span of “more than two years”, resulting in a easing of fear. North Korea has plans of sending “a large delegation to the Olympics in addition to the athletes and performance group”. While, media reports are informing that the South and North are “seeking to form a united women’s ice hockey team”.

Furthermore, both the countries will also participate in separate meeting arranged by “International Olympics Committee” scheduled for the coming Saturday.
