This will occur if U.S. President-elect Donald Trump endorses 25% tariffs on Canadian goods, reports Bloomberg.

The document indicates that Ottawa has no plans to be the first to start a possible trade war and will disclose measures that are ready in response to any moves from the new U.S. administration. It is observed that the list may later be modified and added to.

In November 2024, Mr. Trump suggested a 25% tariff on products from Canada and Mexico, then offered Canada tax cuts more than double if it consented to become a state in the U.S. He released a map last week showing Greenland and Canada as territories of the U.S.
