Adobe Inc. forecasts that sales in online stores in the United States will reach their highest point since 2021 during the winter holiday season (from 1 November to 31 December) because of significant discounts and decreasing inflationary pressures.

Anticipated sales for the period are projected to grow by 8.4% year-on-year to $240.8 billion, marking an increase of 8.6% from 2021.

The forecast indicates a growing trend among Americans to shop via websites and mobile apps rather than in brick-and-mortar stores. The outlook is positive for Amazon.com Inc. and other online shopping platforms, as well as retailers like Walmart Inc. who have increased their digital services in recent times.

Americans are turning to more affordable choices in various shopping areas due to high inflation. However, Adobe anticipates that discounts of up to 30 per cent during the holiday season will encourage consumers to purchase pricier electronics, home goods, and sporting equipment.

The company also points out that customers are beginning to utilize ChatGPT and other AI tools for shopping assistance, avoiding the crowded ads on Google's (owned by Alphabet Inc.) and Amazon's websites.

Adobe reports that 20% of shoppers utilize artificial intelligence to discover the top discounts.
